He is strict but benign, tegas tapi lembut. He kisses the foreheads of children who come to kiss his hand. He is of average height, tough in appearance and walks fast for his old age. He seldom speaks but do joke and laugh. He is humble; he lowers his gaze when he speaks, be it when addressing a crowd or a single person. When he leads zikr, he is sincere in his recitation. And when he implores his Lord the Great, standing, his sincerity and his attraction permeates the immediate atmosphere, such that being in that physical presence alone is enough to let one experience ecstasy and let tears flow involuntarily.

The pursuant mureeds of his stand when he enters and whenever they greet him with the traditional salam, they bend down slightly, take his hand, kiss it, and move backwards before turning to move off, so as not to show him their backs.
